We understand these are tough times for many people. Many family are out of work and are at home with their kids. When you’re not having to help your children with their school work, it’s nice to participate in some activities that aren’t just watching TV or sitting on the couch and scrolling through social media. Here are some fun things to do with your family during quarantine.
- Cook or Bake a New Recipe
This is a great time to broaden your horizons! Try a new recipe that isn’t a norm in your culture. Are you missing your favorite Thai, Italian or Chinese restaurant? The internet is our oyster! Search your favorite recipe and to cook it yourself! Have you been wanting to sweeten up your cookies? Try something new (although you can never go wrong with classic chocolate chip). Maybe try out these Potato Chip Toffee Cookies from the Domestic Rebel. - Do a Family In-Home Workout
If you do find yourself scrolling through social media, you’ll find that there are tons of fitness professionals who are posting FREE in-home workouts! It’s important to stay healthy during this time, and if you’re in the house all time, its understandable if you find yourself going a little crazy. Let out some of that energy and make it a family activity! - Write Letters
When was the last time you gave someone a hand-written letter? We’re always so busy with work and “life” that we find ourselves sending a quick text or email when thanking someone. If you don’t have anyone to thank, just write some letters! Write actual letters to family and friends. After that? Write thank-you notes to service people who you remember went out of their way for you. - Marie Kondo Your House! (Konmari)
Is the clutter around your house driving you insane? Now is the perfect time to tidy up. If you’re going to be stuck in your home, you might as well enjoy the space you’re living in! - DIY Projects
Actually try to reproduce something you see on Pinterest. Probably fail. Try again. It’s worth a shot! Plus, this will keep your children entertained for a few hours! - FaceTime Your Parents or Grandparents
Even though this is a hard time for many people, it does have up reflecting a lot on what it’s important. Family is one of those things. If you don’t get to see your parents often, or your children don’t get to see their grandparents that often, FaceTime them! Not only will it make them insanely happy but it’s good to catch up with your loved ones during uncertain times. - Treat Your Dog New Tricks
We’re sure your furry friends are LOVING all the extra attention they’re getting right now. Take advantage of it and teach them some new tricks! Sit, shake, twirl, play dead, roll over, fetch me a glass of wine (we can dream right?) - FLOSS
And of course, our favorite, floss! There’s no excuses. You have all the time in the world! So start practicing your daily flossing and have your teeth looking pearly white when we’re out of quarantine!
We hope you enjoy these activities with your family. All we want is for our patients, staff and community to stay safe during these times! Stay strong folks.
