Not only is February the month of love, but it’s also Children’s Dental Health Awareness Month! Being a family dentistry in Reno, Nevada, it’s important for us to know you and your children are practicing good oral health. This month-long national health observance brings together thousands of dedicated professionals, healthcare providers, and educators to promote the benefits of good oral health to children, their caregivers, teachers and many others.
This year the American Dental Association wants to push “Brush and clean in between to build a healthy smile.”
Not only are we dedicated professionals in this field, but we are also educators and we want to make sure we’re helping provide tools for you and your children to have life-long healthy smiles.
Here are some tips to teach your children so they have a happy and healthy smile.
- Brush your teeth two times a day with fluoride toothpaste. Fluoride is very important to keep the enamel on your teeth strong. Strong enamel helps prevent cavities!
- Clean between your teeth daily. That means floss! The little plastic flossers with piks at the end make it a little easier to floss on the go.
- Eat a healthy diet that limits sugary drinks and snacks. Not only will this make your whole body healthy, but it helps fight cavities and keep your gums healthy. Some snacks such as strawberries and apples even help with whitening your teeth naturally!
- See your Reno family dentist regularly for prevention and treatment of oral disease. We want to see you every six months! Thats the best to insure you are not missing any cavities or problems in your mouth.
We hope this tips help you during Children’s Dental Health Awareness Month. Remember your Reno family dentist is here for you if you have any questions! If you or your children haven’t seen us in a while, make sure to set up an appointment!
