Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at DiGrazia Family Dental. There is so much to be thankful for this year – family, friends, health – all good reasons to get your smiles showing. Your teeth also love Thanksgiving! Even though we’re most likely going to indulge in some not so healthy foods (treat yourself people!) there are also some Thanksgiving food staples that are great for you teeth!

Here are some Thanksgiving foods that are great for your teeth.

Turkey

Turkey is loaded with protein. Protein has phosphorus in it, and when phosphorus mixes with calcium and vitamin D, it creates strong bones and teeth. So even though eating a Thanksgiving feast can make you sleepy, you can rest assured that turkey is a healthy option for a great smile.

Pumpkins

Pumpkins not only look cute with your decor, but they are also healthy for your teeth. Pumpkin pulp is filled with enamel-building Vitamin A, fiber and potassium. Pumpkin seeds are a good source of magnesium, a nutrient that can strengthen teeth.

Produce

Even though turkey, stuffing and sweet potatoes are Thanksgiving staples, your side dishes can also provide tons of health for your teeth. Remember to take it easy on butter-heavy veggie dishes, such as casseroles. Try making oven-roasted asparagus, balsamic carrots or these delicious collard greens.
